On December 6th, 2025 Lone Star Randonneurs will host the Little Orphan Annie 109 km RUSA Populaire.

The start point is the Wal-Mart Super Center parking lot at 1200 North Highway 77 in Waxahachie.
I suggest a start time of 8:00 AM, though I am willing to entertain other options. Please contact me with your thoughts.
Sunrise is at 7:15 AM. Sunset is 5:20 PM. With a start time of 8:00 AM, nighttime equipment will not be required.
RUSA membership is required. Visit the RUSA website for membership details.
Lone Star Randonneur membership is also required. See the LSR website for membership form. Get the form and the funds to Dan Driscoll sometime prior to the ride.
In the spirit of randonneuring, all routes are unsupported.
A waiver form is attached. Please print, sign, scan, and copy both me and Dan on the emailed waiver. Then bring the printed version to the ride start.
Route notes:
The route heads south from Wal-Mart, goes through downtown Waxahachie, heads east, crosses I-35, passes through Maypearl on its way to Grandview, turns left and goes as far south as Itasca, hangs another left, and heads back to Waxahachie through Maypearl.
The current long-range forecast shows a temperature of 39 F at 8 AM and a high of 58 F at 3 PM with a very low chance of rain. Make sure to check the forecast as the ride day approaches and dress accordingly.

Extra points: Explain to me why the course is called Little Orphan Annie.

The route is called Little Orphan Annie because at mile 40.5, it passes the Presbyterian Children's Homes and Services orphanage (now referred to as foster care).
The name "Little Orphan Annie" comes from a famous 1885 poem by James Whitcomb Riley. The poem is as follows:

- An' wash the cups an' saucers up, an' brush the crumbs away,
- An' shoo the chickens off the porch, an' dust the hearth, an' sweep,
