Hi everyone,
Please join me at the Taste of Gravel 125k Populaire (#3526) this Saturday, November 15th. I designed this route for first-time gravel riders, and it can be ridden on a road bike (32c tires or larger are highly recommended). The route is about 20% gravel, and it features some of my favorite gravel roads around Maypearl, in particular the Bee Creek Road with some challenging climbs and a fun descent and the scenic Witten Road with the Witten Wall 10% grade climb.
The route starts in Alvarado at the Alvarado High School and goes South on scenic County Rd 206 (paved) which is one of my favorite roads. There is a low water crossing around mile 11 (should be dry now since we had very little rain). All paved roads are very low traffic with the exception of FM 66 for a few miles. The controls are in Milford (country store) at mi 33, a photo control at the southern end of the route (mi 38), Italy - multiple store options (mi 45) and Maypearl - store (mi 59).
This is a new route, and it is on the calendar for the first time, so it qualifies for Rando Scout award
.
Night gear (lights front and rear, reflective gear) is not required, but recommended
