Snit has run so far from his warm Prescott manufactured home he can
barely remember why. He finds himself in St. Elmo, and thinks of his
favorite cartoon character. He remembers those mornings sitting in
front of the TV with a bowl of Lucky Charms, watching sweet, sweet
Elmo. "Why can't the world be like that," he could ask himself.
But the world wants answers-- in particular-- "Why are you trying to
change the subject to 'walls?' Are you afraid to discuss Kamala's use
of dead babies to further her gun-grabbing agenda? Are you afraid to
discuss Democrats' CEASELESS use of fear and emotion to pass
legislation?"
Snit knows he can't answer these questions, and leaving Elmo behind,
he has to run away. He MUST run. Challenging his liberal beliefs would
only cause him to have to think for himself, and Snit is not ready for
that.
Snit finds an unlocked door at the First United Methodist Church and
sneaks inside, laying down on a pew to sleep. Pastor Laack notices the
smelly, wet form but says nothing. Later he will explain, "I sensed an
aura of anger and fear, as if something was chasing him. He looked
like he had been running from something for a long time."
