Full Week of Events on Taiwan! (Starting this Saturday Night)

This Saturday night marks the start of series of events to promote awareness of Taiwan’s exclusion from the United Nations and the island country’s pursue for membership in the international organization.

 

Please join “The Chairman” band this Saturday (9/10) Night at Arlene’s Grocery with NY local Hsu-Nami for a night of fabulous music.  Asahi Beer will be offering free beer from 12AM-1AM.   “The Chairman” received the 2006 Band of the year from the Golden Melody award and they have been very supportive of many causes in Taiwan.

On Tuesday(9/13), when delegates from around the world gather at the United Nations for the opening of the 66th UN General Assembly, “The Chairman” band along with the Taiwanese American community will gather at the Dag Hammarskjold Plaza to call for United Nations membership for Taiwan.  Take a extended lunch break to show your support for Taiwan!

Subway: 4, 5, 6, 7, S to Grand Central or E, M, 6 to 51 St then a short walk to the plaza

On Saturday (9/17), the Taiwanese American community and supporters will gather at “Times Square” to rally for support at this “Crossroads of the World”.  Despite a vibrant democracy and population exceeding 23 million (larger than Australia!), Taiwan is the only country excluded from the UN. As a result, Taiwan is unable to participate in global organizations such as the World Health Organization and forced to enter international sporting events under the name "Chinese Taipei." If you believe that people of Taiwanese heritage deserve to be recognized and treated as equals, join us and hundreds of other supporters at this year's UN for Taiwan rally!
