Here are the remaining match dates for 2009:
July 19/09, August 16/09, Sept 20/09, Oct. 18/09
I have yet to decide the exact nature of each shoot but let's just say
you should be able to bring a black rifle to every one of them.
I am considering running 1 'Hunter Bob' or 'Fudd' match in which each
participant must bring a non black rifle shooter along to try it out.
I am hoping we can build some bridges within the shooting community
with this kind of event. Let me know what you think of that idea.
Please note that the July match date is this Sunday, the 19th.
Let me know if you plan to attend.

I'll look at my schedule and hope to make it out. I travel Mondays so
Sundays are usually very busy.
Just a note that we have invited "Fudds" to these shoots in the past
and the reactions were somewhat mixed. Although they themselves wore
head to toe realtree camo they mentioned that the abundance of
military camo and black rifles were somewhat overwhelming. (to each
their own I guess).
Additionally the thought of shooting at an IPSC target (human type
silouette) with a traditional hunting caliber scoped rifle at
distances less than 100 yards can be a psychological hurdle for some
traditional hunter-types. I think that you would get better buy-in
from the fudds if you offered multiple metal plates on the rifle
range, as this would be more practical and a different type of
shooting for them. I'm not sure how well a 30-06 with a 10x optic
would do on the CQB type stages. Just my 2 cents.

To your first question: more Fudds less camo, I guess! ;) A specific
Fudd event should have more familiar looking folks at it for the Fudds
among us ... perhaps that will help.
I wonder if we were using the old metric targets when you invited your
friends. Our current paper targets have no 'head' so may be more
acceptable to them.
Our 100 yard stage is mostly steel these days, as per your suggestion.
Although there is nothing wrong with using a bolt gun, I suggest that
you hotgun with your friends or bring an inexpensive loaner gun for
them. They will get more out of the event using a semi auto mag fed
rifle. At this point it looks as if August will be our Fudd event (but
hey they are welcome anytime!) and I will try to secure extra ammo and
some loaner guns for that date. I think Rod has already offered up a
couple of choices, so just send the word!
