to Illinois Educator's Tablet PC Roundtable
We'll it's been 1 month since our the Tablet PC Roundtable meeting
held at Lake Forest Country Day School. Mara & I want to again thank
everyone who attended & contributed to the discussion. We hope that
this Google Group will allow us to continue to share information in
the future and provide a forum for planning future Roundtables of
Tablet PC educators in Illinois.

To kick-off our discussion, I thought I'd start a thread about Tablet
PC hardware, as I'm looking at additional purchases of Tablet PCs this
summer for next academic year. When we launched our faculty Tablet PC
program last year, LFCDS established a set of technical specifications
and at the time only Lenova, Toshiba, and Fujitsu had models that met
our preferred requirements. LFCDS ended up leasing 75 Fujitsu LifeBook
T4210 Tablet PCs (Intel Core Duo, 1 GB RAM, 60 GB HD, DVD-RW/CD-RW,
XGA, secondary battery). We'll accommodate a few additions to our
faculty and staff next year by leasing a few more the physically
identical but slightly faster Fujitsu T4215 Tablets with similar specs
(but double the RAM).

However, I may need to lease some Tablets for our student mobile
computer carts. I'm curious what those schools with student Tablet PC
programs use/recommend/specify.

Please respond with your school's current hardware configuration/
recommendation so we can build a knowledge base of trusted
information. Perhaps we can then build a separate hardware page on the
site that summarized the collective experience reflected in this
thread.

Thanks again for coming to the Tablet PC Roundtable & thanks for
participating in this group. Please feel free to add new discussion
threads & pages to this Google Group site.

Cheers,
Keith Gillette
