Please be aware of this mugging that occured in the Hout Bay area.

We have been reporting on this one via Twitter (@TablemntnWatch) mostly so apologies for the late update on this forum.  

 

There are between 2 and 3 attacks monthly in the overall TMNP area this year so far.   The hotspot areas are Rhodes Memorial (especially for cyclists), Karbonkelberg / Sandy Bay  (business as usual for poachers who cannot go to see in lousy weather), Silver Mine - as recently reported by Ian and then Signal Hill after that really horrific incident recently.

 

If anyone is aware of any other criminal incident this year please let us know.  Incidents that we dont talk about / discover / ferret out are quietly filed away by the authorities and as a result we are non the wiser.  Unless its picked up by our social networks and/or the media we would never know.

 

Please be careful where you choose to go and try to work on a plan in case. The odds are small that you will be mugged - given the large number of visitors to TMNP overall - but in these hot spot areas the chance increases significantly.  And winter is NOT a quiet time.
