- "A trip down the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon" by Tom
Shimko
A river trip through the Grand Canyon is one of the great
adventures of our time. It offers big water, incredible scenery, literally
billions of years of geology exposed, and the opportunity to spend time
traveling, camping, and hiking within the power of the Grand Canyon.
In
March of 2011, Tom Shimko spent 24 days traveling through Grand Canyon National
Park, from Lee's Ferry, just below Lake Powell and the Glen Canyon dam, 280
miles to Pearce's Ferry, just above Lake Mead. Tom is an experienced Grand
Canyon explorer as well, with over a dozen significant trips, largely off-trail
hiking, mostly from the north side of the Canyon. Join us to see and hear
stories about these adventures.
