Oil and Gas development in the Whitehorse Trough, the Peel Plan, Electoral Reform, Climate Justice, anti-poverty and housing-first work, promoting and defending human rights, campaigns against violence and racism …

In celebration of Yukoners being politically engaged… and to build on the foundation of awesome community energy and political engagement in our community…

Would you, or someone you know, like to participate in

Non-violent direct action training – here in Whitehorse, May 4 – 5…

OFFER

IF there is sufficient community interest, Harjap Grewal, the B.C. / Yukon Organizer of the Council of Canadians is available to present a full day community workshop.

This training will not ‘belong’ to any one group or issue. It is about celebrating the passion of our values, learning and sharing the tools and skills that empower people to keep engaging creatively and happily in political activism.

I am putting this offer out to the community and ask that you do the same. Please circulate this invitation widely.

Thank you.

REQUEST

It only makes sense to make this training happen if enough folks want it. If indeed there is community interest and willingness to participate, here are some requests:

1/ by APRIL 9, if you want this training, please let me know by sending an email to toryr...@live.ca

2/ by April 9 people interested in the training express a willingness to promote and network event in any way they can, and if interested, co-create the workshop agenda.

If there is a lot of interest in this invitation, I will proceed to handle logistics like booking a venue, as well as flights and accommodation for Harjap.  Ideally by a sort of “virtual steering committee” we can co-create the workshop agenda to best meet our collective needs.

BACKGROUND Harjap Grewal, BC-Yukon organizer with the Council of Canadians, has experience organizing community engagement with important issues throughout B.C. He has worked alongside BC First Nations concerned about the Gateway pipeline and protecting Fish Lake from being designated as a tailings pond for mining, and in solidarity with no one is illegal. Harjap has extensive experience offering training in non-violent direct action to groups of all ages, levels of experience and interests.

This idea was inspired in gratitude for the political engagement in the Yukon,

Thanks for forwarding this email,
