Best regards,

ITS Committee Chair
The Research and Innovative Technology Administration (RITA) ITS Joint
Program Office (JPO) recently signed an Implementing Agreement with
the European Commission Directorate General for Information Society
and Media (DGINFSO) to support the development of bilateral
cooperative ITS-related research programs. In support of this new
agreement, DGINFSO released a call for proposals from their existing
European Community (EC) grantees to support international cooperation
and exchange with partners from outside of the EC, such as the United
States.
Information describing the call for proposals is available on the
European Commission website, cited below. In reviewing the terms of
reference for the program, please note that the proposer must be a
member of the European Community with an active project under one of
INFSO's existing programs, and the proposed international exchange
must add value to the to the primary project. Thus, US nationals who
are interested in participating in this grant must partner with an
existing EC grantee. Further information describing the terms of
reference can be found on the website.
The ITS JPO endorses international cooperation in research toward
shared
transportation safety, mobility, and environmental goals. This call
for proposals represents a useful opportunity for United States'
universities, research institutions, public agencies, and private
companies and associations to expand the breadth of their ITS-related
research. While US nationals are encouraged to explore the
opportunities available through the INFSO call for proposals, ITS JPO
does not anticipate providing matching funds at this time, but may
reconsider based on proposals.
