Attached (PDF) is the Executive Summary of the main items and results of the panels from the 7th International Workshop on Vehicle Communications for Safety and Sustainability, organised by COMeSafety2 Project, took place in Orlando, Florida on October 21, 2011, one day after the ITS World Congress.

The event was opened by Søren Hess (C2C-CC) and cochaired by Peter Sweatman (UMTRI). Juhani Jääskeläinen (EC DG INFSO) Yasuhiro Okumura (MLIT) and Shelley Row (US DoT ITS Joint Program Office) welcomed the attendees. The workshop featured more than 120 participants, including senior policy makers, vehicle manufacturers, road authorities and operators, service providers, and equipment suppliers from all around the world.

The workshop was divided into five sessions, each with panelists from all three regions: Europe, Japan and the USA. Selected panelists from around the world provided their views on many issues including global harmonization that face the development and deployment of vehicle communications technologies and associated applications of Co-operative Intelligent Transport Systems. Moreover three keynote presentations enriched the workshop. The core results of the workshop have been noted by different participants of the audience.
