A recent call with a foundation seeking to create a tool for patient
recruitment into clinical trials prompted this question -- who has
mounted similar efforts, and what tools or vendors have you used?
There are lots of companies out there now building platforms for this
kind of activity: EmergingMed, Private Access, TrialX, and Healogica
just to name a few off the top of my head. Does anyone have
experience with these or others they'd like to share?

Unfortunately, there is no easy solution to the patient recruitment
problem. I have been working in clinical trials since 1977, and found
that the best approach is personal involvement of the study leaders
with individual investigators (i.e., skip the middle-man and twist
arms personally). It's a lot of work in a multicenter trial, but pays
divididends because patients respond best to their own healthcare team-
not to ads or people they don't know.Bert Spilker and I wrote a book
on patient recruitment in 1992, all from our own experiences managing
multicenter studies. Not much has changed other than web-access for
patient education. I hope others can recommend some good agencies.
