Once again, we have another opportunity to make a difference on a TN state road project.  After the SR109 hearing, it was very clear that it is imperative that we have bike/ped advocates at these meetings.

Reason?  There were those that made it clear they were against the inclusion of bike/ped.  If no one is there to counter, who gets the attention?  Yep, the squeaky wheel.

Subject: FW: public hearing

Please see the attached notice for an upcoming TDOT public meeting about a modified Interstate interchange with I-65 and Goose Creek (SR248).  The meeting with take place on Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at 5:30 pm at the Franklin City Hall Board Room, 109 3rd Avenue South, Franklin 37064.

As with the recent TDOT meetings regarding SR 109 in Wilson and Sumner Counties, this is the public's opportunity to talk to the project engineers about the importance of making the design of the bridge and interchange friendly to both bicyclists and pedestrians.  McEwen drive is such a great example of what TDOT can do and would be a nice opportunity to ask them to do something similar with Goose Creek.

Bob, I copied you hoping that you could let us know a little more about SPUI (Single Point Urban Interchanges).  I have heard that they can be difficult for bicyclists and pedestrians to navigate.

Please encourage members of Harpeth Bicycle Club, Bike/Walk TN and Walk/Bike Nashville to attend the meeting.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
