Lynne Mason attended the CP conference last year. She will be unable
to attend this year, but she wants attendees to know about an
adoption organization she works for. The organizations finds homes
for kids with CP and other disabilities. The organization is World
Association for Children and Parents (WACAP).
Dear David Bauer,
We are delighted to send families information about waiting children
with special needs including cerebral palsy. WACAP is celebrating over
30 years of finding homes for kids and over 9,000 children now in
loving families. We are non-profit adoption agency (
www.wacap.org)
We’re also known for our programs to subsidize the adoptions of kids
with special needs. If you’re new to adoption, or new to WACAP, you
may find these definitions helpful:
“Children eligible for adoption” are all the children who are orphaned
or whose families cannot raise them. In the United States, over a
hundred thousand children are ready for adoption, and the United
Nations reports that millions of children around the world need
families.
Some of the children who need families are “waiting children.” Often
they are older or have special medical needs like cerebral palsy or
are siblings who need to be adopted together. WACAP subsidizes and
reduces the adoption costs for many of our waiting children, such that
the adoption fees for many of the international waiting children are
capped at $5,000. Fees for U.S. waiting children are even lower. WACAP
also offers an interest-free loan of up to $4,500 for the adoptions of
all of our waiting children.
WACAP designates some waiting children as our “Promise
Children.” WACAP promises to find them a home and backs up the promise
by paying all of their adoption processing fees. There is no adoption
fees for our Promise Children.
We’d be delighted to welcome you into the WACAP family, and we hope we
can help you find the child who may be waiting for you.
Call or e-mail WACAP’s Family Finders team and we’ll send you more
information on orphans with cerebral palsy that need families. For
weekly updates about new waiting and Promise Children, subscribe to
the Family Finders e-mail bulletin by emailing
family...@wacap.org. Some photos and descriptions are also on our
secure Web site:

Every child needs a family, and orphaned children need families as
urgently as they can be found. Children may have more than one agency
working on their behalf or more than one family interested in them.
Consequently, WACAP cannot guarantee that a particular child can be
matched with your family. We hope you remain open to all the children
who need homes.
