What get's measured is what get's done; a simple fact of human nature
we best take seriously when seeking positive personal change.

Group Members using the PCI should know how the tool measures personal
change. Here's how it works:

Following your initial completion of the PCI, you will want to self-
assess your progress on a periodic basis. Some do so once a week,
some twice a month, and others every month or so.

Since the PCI records and maintains your completions in your personal
and anonymous file, you (and only you) can click on the drop down menu
to see how you felt each of these previous times and how you are now
progressing.

If you do little or nothing to change your life, don't expect to see
changes, unless you win the lottery or some such luck inspired event.

If you engage in FOCUSED ACTION, as discussed elsewhere on this Forum,
you can measure personal change resulting from your constructive self-
management actions.

Nothing works better than zeroing in on specific concerns and doing
what it takes to achieve desired results.

Again, self-assess your continuing progress with the PCI.

Then move forward with new concerns. It's a continuing process.

EXAMPLE

Jim and his wife (from a previous Post) did solve their problem with
their son, but now learn Jim will soon lose his job.

You can be sure Jim's PCI ratings will change dramatically (as will
those of his wife).

The good news is, completing the PCI helps Jim establish new and
precise goals and he continues to move forward with FOCUSED ACTION.

Note: If Jim was a patient of mine, this is exactly what I would
recommend he do. Fortunately for Jim, with Focus, he can do all of
this on his own.

Self-management of personal health and personal effectiveness is the
best route. What's the alternative?

Dr. Ray

This is how life progresses for most of us. There is no distant
plateau where peace waits, at least for most of us.

Challenge is always with us. How we greet these challenges defines
the difference. Develop sharpened "stress and tension management
skills" as you carve your way into an increasing more effective
problem solving coping style.
