Dear Community Partners,

The New York City Department of Transportation (NYC DOT) is hosting an informative session focused on accessibility improvements at bus stops and along bus routes.

While the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) operates the buses, NYC DOT is responsible for everything around them, from the roadway and curb to bus shelters and seating.

At this online info session, you’ll learn how NYC DOT is working to make bus stops and travel more accessible.

What to Expect:

  1. Hear about improvements to bus stops under elevated train lines
  2. Understand how bus lanes and cameras keep buses moving safely
  3. Learn who to contact with your bus-related questions

Date and time: Friday, December 5, 2025 from 1pm to 2:30pm

Target Audience: People with Disabilities and Older Adults

Location: Online -  Register on Zoom

ASL interpretation and live captioning will be provided. For any other accommodation request, email MobilityM...@dot.nyc.gov by Monday, December 1.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you,

Also, is this related to the announcement about 875 new benches at bus stops per year? I figured that Mamdani's campaign focus on buses would trigger some investments by the DOT. It's good to see that happening.
