Subject: Short UPDATE on DNA Group
Greetings, everyone.
First let me say that the response to the DNA testing has been
wonderful! I thank all of you for your interest and your words of
encouragement and thanks. You are most kind.
I do not plan on emailing all the Talley groups in the near future as I
do not with to bother people who aren't interested..... but I thought
some of you would like to know that several people have purchased kits
today and a few others tell me they will soon.
Once I receive permission from them to post their lineage (so we'll
know from whom they descend), I will pass that on to those who are on
the Talley DNA Group list only. (Some of you may get this message
twice as you are already in that DNA Group. Others of you may be on
both the Tally and the Tally-Surname groups and will receive duplicates
of this. I'm sorry for the duplication, but I wish to give everyone
the opportunity.
If you wish to be placed on this list to get updates, be sure to email
me soon. I also want your snail address (too many people are lost when
emails are changed) and your direct lineage back to the oldest PROVEN
Talley ancestor. This is for two reasons....1. If you or a relative
tests, I'll know what branch and will post that on the DNA email list
for others to know if they connect. 2. If we can add to your lineage
or connect you with other cousins, that would be helpful to all.
This DNA email list isn't interactive (as yet, at least), but it is
solely for me to disseminate information and answer questions that you
pose to me directly. I have done this with my Ogan group quite
successfully. Those on
the email list will get explanations of DNA terms, updates on new
information from Family Tree DNA, etc. As I have said, I have access
to the creator of Family Tree DNA and to another major player in its
formation. These two are willing to answer any question. I've emailed
them and I have spoken on the phone directly. They respond quickly. I
also have access to an administrator who attended the First Annual DNA
conference in Houston, TX last year and he is sharing his knowledge
with me. The lucky devil had his way paid by the members of that
group! (It's a large group...Williams surname! <VBG>)
I will be answering any questions you have as well as letting you know
who is testing and when the tests arrive.

ALSO...consider a 37 marker as it will give you a more detailed set of
numbers, showing if there is a good match in less years than does a 12
or 25 marker. SEE the page on FAQ about DNA testing and genealogy by
genetics. (This is the bottom choice on the left of the same URL as
above.
Keep the questions coming and I'll start answering them on the DNA
list....once everyone decides if they want on it or not.
