Greetings Parents:  Trusted that everyone who showed up yesterday had enjoyed our first training hike. Many thanks to Mr. Ying and Kevin who organized this event. My GPS logged 4.98 miles distance, in case you want to know. Our next committee meeting is scheduled on the following time slot. Committee meeting is mainly for parents, but youths are welcome. Date and Time: Jan 6, 2013 (Sun) 7:00PM - 8:15PM Location: Sunny View Manor, Plum Room. 22445 Cupertino Road, Cupertino. We'd need about 75 mins to cover the following agenda: Finalize the travelling date for flight reservation.  Mr. Steve Chiang, who has been helping with all T453 ticket reservations as long as I can remember, has advise us to start a block reservation early to ensure all 4 crews (32 people) can get onto the same flight. We will go over travelling plan proposal and decide. Gear Preparation. Mr. Joseph Chen and Mr. Ying will be going over the gears. The intent is to focus on personal gears specific to nTier, the price range and where to get them. Borrow vs Buy. Q/A and feedback. Training: Crew training schedule published by Mr. Ying. Q/A and feedback. Adult Wilderness First-Aid/CPR  (Mr. Albert Lin). At least one adult per crew needs to be trained.  Next SCCC training date is Feb 6 (Sat) and Feb 13 (Sat), two full day training.  Youth Protection for all adults involved.  Mr. Albert Lin reported a change in crew 4 roster, as one scout is dropping out. We'll go over the changes and our understanding on the general refunding policy from nTier office.  Other reporting - Paperwork (Mr. Wu), Finance (Mrs. Wang), Communication (Mr. Yuan). Other items. Greetings All,  Hope everyone has a good rest since "last" year.  Thanks Mr. Wu for clarifying T453's policy on subsidized training. This is good to know. I also want to add the following comments: BSA High Adventure requires Wilderness First Aid training (valid for 2 years), the regular First Aid training I believe is good for other BSA campouts.  What is the difference between these two?  Regular First Aid training assumes that professional medical help is readily available, thus the focus is on stabilizing the situation until professional medical help arrives. Training is 1 full day, Wilderness First Aid training  assumes "delayed" professional medical help in wilderness situation. Hence the training entails more items, it takes 2 full day. Thanks for sharing the difference between "First Aid training" and "Wilderness First Aid Training". Questions, Is "Wilderness First Aid Training" a super set of "First Aid Training"? Do people go to "Wilderness First Aid Training" need to attend "First Aid Training" first?

Dear All,

I will be out of town. I can't attend the CM meeting. 

For document portion, the most time critical part is Physical Exam. Please make an appointment with your doctor as soon as possible. Some doctors may need to schedule a physical exam appoint months ahead. There are 4 parts of the BSA medical form.

- Part A and B are filled by parents. You should have this done last November during rechartering.

- Part D, print it out and bring it to the doctor during physical exam. There are some notes for doctor to read before performing the exam.

- Part C, have the doctor fill and sign the form during physical exam.

Hi Mr. Wu,  No. Wilderness First-Aide does not require the completion of regular First Aide. I think Wilderness First-Aide can be used to fulfill the requirement of regular First Aide, but not vice versa.  Cheers, YIS, Kuang

To save tomorrow's discussion time, I want to provide some information related to future expenditures/payments in advance:

1. Albert forwarded me the email from Norther Tier and Canoe Rental Contract (attached) last Friday, $600 rental deposit is already past due;

2. Second crew payment of $6,896 will be due on April 1 (attached)

Below are some other expenditures I can think of that may need to be discussed tomorrow, so we can come up with a reasonable estimate (I attached my estimate just to get a rough number):

3. Airfare;

4  Local transportation to/from airport;

5. Possible hotel stay;

6. Training cost, including equipment rental, entrance/lake use fee, campsite rental, etc.

7. Welcome party;

8. Others?

We can discuss whether we want an installment payment schedule or a collect-first-refund-later schedule. Please bring your checkbook to the meeting tomorrow.
