nTier Count Down - 6 days

Greetings All, 

We'll be leaving for nTier in 6 days. This is the final week for preparation, few more items to note:

• Adult Leader meeting : Mr. Lin and I thought that we should have a Crew Adult Leader meeting to go quickly go over key items and issues/concerns. If you are participating nTier as an adult, you are invited and please be there. All parents are welcome as well. 
• Time and Location: July 22 (Monday) at 8:00PM, at my house (Address is 6747 Dartmoor Way, San Jose 95129).
• We hope to keep the meeting under 45 mins. 
• Hope to see all adults there.
• Gear Check tonight at 7:30 PM (Sun). It is crucial that all participants attend. 
• Mr. Yuan has previously send out the NT_2013 Participant Handbook. Please follow the individual packing list items.
• Key items - Rain Gears (No Ponchos) and Boots (hope you already tested out at the practice campout)
• Crew Gear, we will leave that to the Crew Adult Leader and Crew Leader. 
• There is a general store at the base camp. However, please keep in mind that they occasionally can run out of items. Hence, bring all items that you think you would need.

Other immediate items:

• Traveling. Many thanks to Mrs. Chow for putting the detail itinerary together. Mr. Steve Chiang for airline reservation.
  
• For crews crossing into Quetico Park Canada, you'd need to bring along your passport. 
• Crew Adult Leader can help to hold on to the passports.
• Full Class A during traveling. All air traveling restricted items (pocket knife, .etc.) must be in the check-in bag. 
• We'll be stopping for meals during traveling. Please bring some spending money or the Crew Adult Leader can pay for them first.
• When traveling to Ely base camp, we'll be stopping for lunch, dinner and breakfast (the next day).
• On returning trip, we'll be stopping for lunch and dinner.
• Trust that all participants have already turned in the medical and nTier forms.
• Parents, please be standby on Sun 7/28 morning while the crews check in at the base camp, just in case we need to contact you for any last minute paper work.
• Ely time is two hours ahead of San Jose.

Yes, only 5 days before going Northern Tier adventure. I am exciting and look forward to it. How about you?
 
I just called NTier staff regarding "permit" issues our parents have concerns about. You may also have the same concern. So, I would like to share with all of you. Beside this , I also chatted with him about the condition there. Here are the contents,
 

• permits: All 4 crews' permits have been reserved. Adult leaders should be able to obtain permit of each crew upon arrival and payment of the camp service fee. For crew staying in US, the fee is $16 per adult per night and $8 per scout per night. For crews going over Canada, it will be $22 per adult per night and $8 per scout per night.

• weather: Expect rain. The temperature is ~70 degree day time and ~45 degree in the night. Thunderstone is on and off. Following is the link for local forecast.

• The little animals (mosiquitos) are waiting for us. According to NTier staffs, THEY ARE HUNGRY. So, be prepared.
