Film Camp Alumni Project Selected

The short film, "There," created by two students from the Rocky Mountain Christian Filmmakers Camp, has been chosen as an Official Selection at the Christian Worldview Film Festival. Congratulations to Morgan and William Willer. Each took both the acting and filmmaking programs at Film Camp. They brought me in as an actor and acting coach for "There." Five other Film Camp alumni were also involved. You can find out more and see the completed short film at www.RichDrama.com/There.

Earlier this month The willers (third and fourth from left in the photo to the left) shot another film with four other Film Camp alumni. Find out more at www.RichDrama.com/Reflection.

This summer at the Rocky Mountain Christian Filmmakers Camp Patricia Mauceri will be addressing our students via video conference.
Patricia has credits on Broadway, film and TV, and she played Carlotta Vega for 14 years on One Life to Live. Her testimony is amazing, and she’s going to talk about that, and about some of her favorite ways to train actors. She trained at Juilliard with Kevin Kline, Patty LuPone, and other luminaries. On Broadway she performed opposite James Earl Jones, Christopher Plummer, Gene Hackman, Richard Dreyfuss and more. You can see more of her credits on IMDb

As we do every year, our Film Camp training will be in video tutorials, so we can hit the ground running, filming a short film. Students will have footage for their reels, be able to say they've had a set etiquette course (required for many projects for actors who haven't been in more than five productions), and a great opportunity to grow in their skills and in their relationships with the Lord.

As I write there are still two spots left for actors and two for filmmakers, and the early bird deadline ends tomorrow night.

If no one in your family is interested in training for acting or filmmaking, and you know of someone 16-29 who may be interested, please forward this to them.

The Least of These: The Graham Staines Story is coming to theaters nationwide, starting tomorrow night.

Joyce and I saw a pre-release screener of the film and really loved it!

Shari Rigby (October BabyOvercomer) plays Gladys Staines opposite Stephen Baldwin (105 credits on IMDb). Together, they do a brilliant job of bringing this couple to life and showing their peace in the presence of persecution.

The screenwriter has framed the atrocity at the heart of the film in a very intriguing way. We see it unfold through the eyes of a journalist who is trying to find evidence that supports his viewpoint. So it feels relevant in an era of fake news accusations.

This important story is being told in theaters February 1 with a special showing January 31. For more information, and to find a theater near you: www.TheLeastOfThese.movie.

It's so important to "vote" for more films with Christian themes by seeing the ones that make the massive investment to get them to theaters. This one is a great one to support.

Parents may want to visit the Dove Review for more details.
Shari Rigby spoke to the New York Media Initiative last week when she was in town for a screening of The Least of These and to talk to press about the film. She gave a great talk! You can read my notes here.
