And finally, missive number three.

This is a kind of good news/bad news thing.

So the bad news is that I'm officially moving to Dallas at the
beginning of the new year, after a few weeks of traveling in January.
Some of you know I've been debating this for a while, so it won't come
as any shock to you. But I know there are a lot of folks who don't
know I've been thinking of the move and so this will come as a
surprise to them. To make a very long story short, I'm going to try my
hand at being a full-time dance instructor and DJ after seriously
considering the idea for several months. I've also have some personal
projects and goals that I want to shoot for. Call it my mid-life
crisis or whatever, but I realized that if I'm gonna give this a shot
and be successful at it, I've got to do it now. Unfortunately for me,
it will be easier for me to do this out of Dallas instead of Austin,
and so I have to say goodbye (for now) to a lot of dancers and friends
here in Austin that have welcomed me with
open arms. If it were not for this scene, I wouldn't have had the
success and joy I've had for the past three years and I am more
grateful for that than you can know and I'm more appreciative of that
than I can express.

So what's the good news?

Well, I have no intention of packing up all my toys from Austin. :-)
With the help of some very good friends (namely Keith and Summer
Shapiro and Clint Zehner) and your continued support, I will continue
my monthly Back Room dances here in Austin. I also have plans to
continue organizing and teaching workshops here in Austin and of
course, I'll be involved in next year's Austin Blues Party... and
there will be one. :-) I also have plans to organize a
large scale lindy event in Austin, possibly in August 2008, and I hope
that eventually comes to fruition. So in essence, you'll see me a lot
less, but you'll still be seeing me on the dance floor. You're not
quite rid of me yet. :D

So as the saying goes, all good things must come to an end. But that
only means the beginning of a new adventure or two. I've had a lot of
great dances and fun times here in Austin, which by the way, I'll
still be claiming as my hometown. :P I thank you all for the support,
love, and laughs you've given me since I moved here in 2004 and I hope
to continue on with you in 2008 and beyond. Because it's gonna be a
fun ride.

See you on the dance floor!

Love always,
T
