Monthly Action Meeting
Please join us for our monthly Zoom meeting on Wednesday, May 18th at 7:00pm.
This month’s meeting will feature a Divest Oregon presentation by Linda and Gary Wallmark. Divest Oregon is a statewide grassroots coalition of individuals and organizations representing unions with PERS members, racial and climate justice groups, youth leaders, and faith communities with the goal of calling the Oregon State Treasury to account for its funding of climate devastation rather than prudent investing in a sustainable future. They are part of a national movement; a member of the Climate Safe Pensions Network and the Stop the Money Pipeline Coalition.
The organization sponsored the "Treasury Transparency" bill during this year's short legislative session which sought to compel public disclosure regarding the investment of Oregon’s public funds. And it has published a report, "Risky Business: Oregon Treasury's Fossil Fuel Problem" which you can find at https://www.divestoregon.org.
We’ll also be holding a follow-up discussion about last Saturday's Climate Action Town Hall.
