hey all hoping for some advice and perhaps a diagnosis.  I have an oppo 93 from a while back.  It has the firmware up to the one that disabled SACDs.  Working fine then went on the next day and while the oppo is getting power when i press the button on the remote or the machine it wont turn on.  I havent a clue whats going on.  I did nothing in the interim when it worked and when it stopped.  The red light is on indicating power but it will not switch to green.  This is my first oppo so I am not sure if this is a common issue that others might know about.  If anyone has advice etc much appreciated.  Im not sure if there is a way to play 5 channel music with any good software players on the mac.  Im going to cry a lot if none of it will work!!!!!

Same situation I had a while back. My 93 just stopped working, red light only. I think I got it working once but the second time it died for good. Probably due to age of the unit. You can call Oppo and see what they say.
But I feel your pain, I also had the last firmware that let it play ISO & SACD files from my network.
What I did was buy a 103 because I read there's a way to jailbreak them to play ISO & SACD. Kind of risky, but what the heck you only live once :)

oh man that is so remarkably similar i would say theres an issue. its not like there are moving parts per se.  I hadnt considered that i might ever need to buy another player.  I guess ill call oppo but i guess i shouldnt get my hopes up.

Citysoundman said his unit started working again before it completely died.
As far as electronic issues go, the main chips don’t normally act intermittent. They usually work or they don’t. So I would look to circuit issues the cause intermittent problems like solder cracks and aged electrolytic capacitors. Also easy and cheap to fix.
