Disappearing Decks

I haven't seen anyone else referring to this one, so perhaps it is
something I am doing, but I will be working along on a project, taking
notes on a deck, then suddenly the whole deck just disappears!
Completely. Not in trash. No where to be found. It is disconcerting
and I have had to repeat work a couple of times because of it. Any
ideas? I can't associate it with any action I have taken except
creating new cards and moving around in the project.

Yes, I am running Version 2.6.

Since I am working on a book, I would rather not send a screenshot,
but it is on the deck display using Project Explorer.

I could have accidentally hit delete, but as the Delete key is pretty
far removed from anything I use consistently, I kind of doubt it.
However, yes, I would expect it to ask me if I was sure.

I have relocated cards among decks by copy and paste, but not decks.

Is there some behavior I should avoid just to be sure all is well? I
have it set to back up often. If I lose something, what should be my
action to retrieve the prior backup?
