Hi friends,

I will be hosting our first poetry reading of the year tomorrow night.  I constructed a podium of sorts.  It is made out of branches and tree trunk from a huge oak that was cut down in Brooklyn today.  It is not yet as sturdy as it needs to be, so please do not lean on it or place anything heavy on it.

I hope some of you can make it, if not, readings will be held every weds -
Also, if you know of anyone who would like to read, please let me know.

peace,

Francis

Good evening...

I would just like to take a moment and let everyone know what the water situation is at the Suffolk Garden.

Currently the curb valve is broken on the sidewalk (the point at which we connect to city water) and we are currently trying to come up with a way to fix it.

Its a costly venture so we will need some patience and in the meantime you can use the hydrant as long as you have a permit--which from what I hear will be going to make it in your hands soon.

Please contact Lisa or Ashley with a timeline as to when you will receive it and please post it within the shed when it does come.

Let me know if you need any supplies. You currently have hose you can use in the garden and NYRP will provide you with a hose strong enough to make it across the street and a hydrant wrench and hydrant valve. Let me know what you need.

Also...Please let me know if you would like any more vegetables...We have tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers and some herbs..

Thanks and let me know if you have any more questions.

Hello all….

I sent around an e-mail on this listserve talking about whats up with the water system at Suffolk.  Please refer to it for details as myself and Kara are still getting questions about it. We are working to solve it and hope to get it fixed soon.

I once again apologize for the inconvenience as we work to solve the problem with the dedicated water system in the garden.

At the moment, you have what you need to get water into the garden using the hydrant across the street. In the shed is a hydrant adapter, hydrant wrench and sturdy black hose( ONLY USE THIS HOSE) to run across the street and connect with the existing hose you have in the garden.

We also left and filled a grey water barrel in the rear of the garden for you to dip watering cans into and water your plants.

Please call or e-mail any questions you have about this or any other matter in the garden.

Thanks
