We just wrapped a fabulous three-year long labor of love with a very successful run of The Grand Duke. But, in theater, there's no rest for the weary. It's time to start planning for Winter 2024's production of Princess Ida! This is why you find me in your inbox today.
Princess Ida is a comic opera by Gilbert & Sullivan; it was their eighth operatic collaboration. The piece highlights a princess who founds a women's university and teaches that women are superior to men and should rule in their stead.
The Sudbury Savoyards have presented a Gilbert and Sullivan show on a Grand Scale every year since 1961 and are excited to be continuing this rich tradition in 2024. This is where we need YOU.
Are you a great organizer?
Would you like your name in lights (okay, probably not lights!) under the heading of Producer?
Can you manage a wealth of details and see the larger picture?
Do you have good people skills?
If yes to any of the above, we would love to talk to you.
In addition to the traditional one-producer model, the Board of Trustees are open to discussing other producer models, such as a dual or tri-producer team where the tasks would be split among the producers. In the past we have had models like this where the pair opted to split tasks into categories like technical vs. administrative production aspects.
In your letter of interest please let us know if you might be willing to be an assistant or co-producer. We appreciate any questions and interest.
We expect this production will go up mid-late February 2024 with auditions and rehearsals starting around November.
To apply, please send a letter of interest or questions to karen....@sudburysavoyards.org. We anticipate interviews for producers to be conducted virtually in late May.
The Programs Committee looks forward to hearing from you!
Cheers,
Karen Powers
