5. List the ways in which God’s direction is evident in the events
of
these verses.


Without ever mentioning God, Luke reveals His divine hand, frustrating
the schemes of human beings so that His purposes for the gospel's
advance will come a step closer to fulfillment. Revealing the plot to
kill Paul is a silent witness to God's providential ruling and
overruling in the affairs of humankind to fulfill His saving purposes.
Human beings play an essential role. The courageous nephew, the
determined apostle, the compliant centurion, the discerning commander
and the governor not transferring the case to another jurisdiction;
all are essential to seeing that the cunning plot is foiled. Not only
do these events foil the plot to kill Paul but, as a result, Paul is
one step closer in his journey to Rome. God is certainly guiding these
events in Paul’s life but also validating his message and mission.
