Starship has provided an interesting post that, among other things,
deals with Paul's reminder to the beleagured crew and passengers on
the grain ship bound for Rome, that they should have listened to his
advice before they left Fair Havens. One of the study questions asked
if Paul were engaging in the " I told you so" behavior, which is
seldom well received by those to whom it is addressed. But Starship
points out that Paul was eager to establish his credibility as a
predictor of events, so that he would be heeded as new emergencies
unfolded. As subsequent verses reveal, he was successful.

Starshship also sees a valuable example worthy of emulation in Paul's
conduct and demeanor as he encourages his fellow traveler's with his
prediction that their lives will be saved, even though more trouble
lies ahead. Moreover, he makes clear that this outcome will result
from God's direction, and that he has complete faith in that outcome.
Paul never passes up an opportunity to teach the basis of his faith,
nor should we.

Irving.
