Climate Change Photo Contest
Amateur
and professional photojournalists are invited to submit works to the
photo contest which aims to raise awareness on environmental issues
leading up to the Copenhagen Climate Change Conference in December.
The
contest, "Picture This: Caring for the Earth," aims to show the people
of Africa as protectors of their environment. Entrants should have
lived in a country of Africa for at least the past 12 months. Photos
must have been taken between August 2007 and August 2009. Special
attention will be given to photos that take into account the role that
women can and do play in caring for the earth.
There
are two categories, individual photo and photo essay. The top three
winners in each category will receive Olympus cameras. The winning
photos and photo essays will be displayed on the websites of the three
sponsors -- the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the Olympus
Corporation and the AFP Foundation -- and shown in at least two
exhibitions in Africa and the US.
