Youth discussion on Climate Change Policy
Aiming to declare youth’s views, aspirations and needs for effective climate action and realizing the necessities of Climate Policy for effective action plan for mitigation and adaptation, NYCA is organizing a discussion program.
Why do we need to meet?
Climate change is one of the emerging environmental threats to mother earth, its ecosystem and a bigger threat to the existence of the mankind. If this threats are not addressed urgently, effectively and equitably, the manifolds of major cumulative impacts of climate change will be inherited by youths( the most vulnerable generation) of today and upcoming generation, affecting billions of youths to sustain their living, further pushing youths towards the poverty and struggling for resources; clean and healthy environment to live in. So a climate policy addressing the young Nepalese must be formulated to engage youths in understanding the issues and impacts, information dissemination and most importantly to motivate them to sustainable living styles and be prepared for the necessary adaptation.
MoEST has drafted a climate policy that aims to address climate change in Nepal and combat this through mitigation and adaptation measures. We youths will meet together and discuss on the Draft of Climate Change Policy whether youths voices and aspirations are addressed or not. We aim to formulate an effective, equitable and all-inclusive climate policy and to pressurize for its effective implementation.
The draft of the discussion will be submitted to MoEST.
Date: 6th March, 2009 (Friday) Time: 2:00 PM Venue: ENPHO Hall, Thapagaun, Baneshwor Attached find the “Draft of Climate Change Policy” formulated by MoEST and “Youth Declaration on Climate Change”. |
