Hi Linda,

We are definitely ON for April 10 1:30 videoconference and April 25 final event. The 1:30 videoconference will be an up-close and personal inside look at what it is like to be in the WSU Symphony Orchestra. Your students will get an inside look and what it feels like to rehearse in the orchestra etc.

At that time we are also wondering what it might be like if we introduced the idea of some sort of group violin lessons, perhaps, for some of your students. What we were wondering is if there is an interested parent or string player in your community that might work with us. If so, maybe one of our string buddies could drive to Wellington and work with a group of students, getting them started on probably the violin. Our string buddy might be able to come every-other-week. On the alternate weeks perhaps your community member could work with them. Our hope is that might might offer the group lessons and maybe even some instruments for a rate sensitive to the needs of the students and their families.

Let me know what you think.

John,
I haven't heard from our String Buddies for a long time.
Are we doing anything this year. They came once and then we were not able to connect for the first video conference.  Are we still doing the activity in April at WSU or what.

Please respond as soon as possible.

Thanks,
Linda

Hey Linda I am really sorry about this. We went ahead and did the videoconference anyway but we missed you. We should probably touch base. Send me your phone # and the best times to call, or call my cell: 208 4925.

Thanks,

FYI…here is some detailed information on why Wellington was not able to connect for the Strings! Kansas event this afternoon.  I tested with them Friday afternoon, so I am not sure when it went out or it was decided it needed to be fixed.

No problem…I’ve had to talk to several people today about what exactly happened.  From what the Wellington technician explained for me:  The Kan-Ed router to Wellington schools is in the Highschool, from the Highschool it goes out to all of the Elementaries.  Their main switch (you may be more familiar with that term than me) that leaves the Highschool had to be repaired and they had to take everything down at the Elementaries to repair it.  And he wasn’t for sure how many days it would take to repair.  He thought definitely by the beginning of next week.  They had regular internet up by today, but they were still working on the configuration for the Kan-Ed lines.  Does that make sense?  I don’t understand all the lines and switches, but somehow he made it make sense.  I know Linda Ballard was confused here because the internet was back up, but she didn’t understand that Kan-Ed ran over Internet 2 and that that was separate.  I did not get the details as to what initially happened why they had to repair it, but I could give him a call tomorrow if you need anymore information.  That’s about as technical as I get!  Let me know if you need anything else.

Chris and I finished our excerpts and they are posted. We will put our scripts up later because it is very involved but hilarious! Mozart wrote this symphony to emphasize the Paris Symphony's strengths and weaknesses, so Chris and I are going to play detectives and we will "find" these characteristics within the music.

I need to get a real script, like a finished version, to MRC ASAP. I told them we'd have it done this weekend. Hope that's possible.
