Recently attempted to repair a customers RAID (Adaptec 2410SA card 4x SATA) set as RAID 1+0 reporting RAID failure, disks looked good. Couldn’t boot from the Adaptec CD on site, couldn’t download a new CD from vendor (required entering of card serial number which was declined – still in discussion with vendor as they claim the card does not exist), couldn’t boot from SystemRescueCD (didn’t see RAID at all) …
Time pressures, so resorted a rebuild and recovery from tape.
What steps can I take next time to do things better? Are there any “simulators” that you can practice on? Is there a “one-and-all” RAID repair disks?
Any pointers appreciated.
Thanks
