I am considering the purchase of a Western Digital TV HD Media Player
for USB Devices.

It is what I think you call a media bridge. It is a box that hooks up
to a USB external hard drive and can play media files including high
definition video through an HDMI output.

The only snag is that it uses a USB external hard drive. I already
have one that would work but it would be a pain in the ass to plug and
unplug the USB drive every time I want to add new files to the disk.

I have read of one person using an external drive that had both USB
and ethernet ports so that he could add files over his network.
Unfortunately he didn't mention the hardware he was using.

Does any one know of a hard drive enclosure that takes a parallel
drive, has a USB 2.0 port and 10/100 ethernet? SATA might be an
option, I have an empty 3.5" parallel drive ready to go but future
expansion in to the terrabyte range is tempting. Gigabyte ethernet
would be nice too but not required.

It needs to be able to work as a cheapo NAS and a USB hard drive
simultaneously.

Ideally it would be quiet also.

Thanks for the help.
