New York Regional Interconnect officials met with representatives from
the offices of U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton and Sen. Charles Schumer to
discuss the company's proposal to build a power line from Marcy to
Orange County downstate.

A power company spokesman could not be reached Thursday. Clinton and
Schumer's offices offered these comments:

·Schumer spokesman Joshua Vlasto said Schumer's position remained
unchanged.

"NYRI's proposed routes are inappropriate; they would cut a jagged
edge through too many communities and priceless, pristine areas.
NYRI's 'my way or the highway' approach is unacceptable," Schumer said
in a prepared statement.

"With every statewide official opposed to their current plan, NYRI
needs to go back to the drawing board and work with community, local
and state officials to develop alternative routes that bury lines and
use existing rights of way like the Thruway. I will continue to
aggressively oppose any efforts to do an end run around the more
thorough and public New York State (Public Service Commission) review
process."

·Clinton spokesman Philippe Reines said Clinton had told the power
company officials her concerns about the project.

"Senator Clinton's aides met ... with representatives of NYRI and they
communicated her strong concerns about the proposed route and her
interest in having alternative routes evaluated," he said in an e-
mail. "They also communicated her concerns about the potential impact
on upstate ratepayers."

Of course she can't commit to anything yet. She has to review the
facts and see which way the wind is blowing and who has the deepest
pockets. maybe we need some more Zogby polls.

How can you tell if a politician is lying?

Their lips are moving.

Hillary can't commit either way on this issue - it's time she does
just that. Trying to keep everyone content - it doesn't work!
At least Schumer is against it! Smile
