The PSC does not want to hear from residents of Broome!
At least, that how it appears to me.
On the subject of the NYRI power line, it turns out that state
hearings have been scheduled in each county on the proposed 190 mile
route, EXCEPT for BROOME county!
According to NYRI opponent Troy Bystrom, founder of the Upper Delaware
Preservation Coalition, the reason given is that there's no suitable
meeting place in Broome County.
Bystrom adds that if one WERE found, a hearing could still be
scheduled.
The way it stands right now, the closest hearings will be in Oneonta
on Tuesday October 21st; Hancock on Wednesday, November 5th; and in
Norwich on Thursday.
The preferred route on the NYRI application filed in 2006, would have
the power line run Northwest to Southeast, through the Town of
Sanford, crossing into Delaware County near Deposit.
A now-discarded western alternate would have had the power line enter
Downtown Binghamton from the north, then head east after crossing the
Susquehanna near Sandy Beach.
