Hello fellow Stone Bridge Drivers,
The FLX Alfa Romeo Journey to the Top is now full at our reduced capacity for Covid.
If that changes between now and September, you will learn about it here.
I believe there are still a few spots left in the Concours d Elegance, the Glenkhana, the LOONY Lotus Rendezvous, and the Lane’s Yamaha Motorcycle Rallye.
Get yourself vaccinated while you are trying to keep up with that vaccinated mask wearing Stone Bridge Driver ahead of you.
Casey

Hi Tom,
The best way is to send an email to Michaela at eve...@watkinsglen.com and tell her which event/s you think you signed up for.
I know it can get confusing trying to remember if you donated your 2020 registration fee and then signed up for 2021 or maybe rolled over your 2020 fee into 2021, or worse yet forgot to do that and thus didn’t keep up with the car ahead of you.
Casey

Good idea.
We are still working on the exact protocols for all of our SBD events. And as you know the various guidelines are in a constant state of change, it seems.
No, you won’t have to wear a mask while in your car unless you feel the need. There is no current plan to require vaccinations, although I do recommend getting vaccinated to do your part in trying to deal with this pandemic while bettering your own chances.
I can tell you what the general protocols look like for the upcoming Grist Iron Brewing Grand Ramble on May 15th. Here is an excerpt from that Fact Sheet:
Basic Protocols to be Followed by all Participants and Volunteers
Masking: Whenever anyone is away from the seat of their car, they MUST WEAR A MASK
When in Brewery, please WEAR A MASK at all times you are not seated at your table
Social-Distancing: All participants & volunteers are asked to maintain 6-feet between
individuals (& maintain masking) during the course of the day. Volunteers may come within that distance to exchange paperwork or offer assistance to participants and will sanitize between interactions.
Sanitize regularly: Sanitizer will be available in many places; please use it liberally

I am glad that is clear. Now it’s time to clear up something else.
Watkins Glen has never had a Vintage Festival. Since 1993 we have be holding the Grand Prix Festival the same weekend that WGI has their Vintage Races. We are 2 separate entities who like to work together as much as possible.
I hear a lot of people refer to our event as the Vintage Festival, Vintage Cup or just the Vintage. It is the Watkins Glen Grand Prix Festival. Always has been.
Keep up with the car ahead of you while enjoying your Grand Prix Festival.

There is plenty of chance that all of our SBD events could grow a little more or even get all the way back to normal numbers. But at this point there is no way to predict how things will go with all of the official entities that have to sign off on our event. If it is safe to do so, we would much rather have our normal numbers. On the other hand we have to tread gently to make sure that we are able to have an event at all this year. No there is nothing you can do to help other than to encourage folks to get vaccinated so that the Covid outlook improves as much as possible.
As for being on a waitlist, I wouldn’t put much faith in that. If it was me, I would get into whatever SBD event still has room, and then if things open up, you will hear about it here and you should be able to switch from one to the other if you want. Or stay with the one you get into for this year and enjoy the new experience.
I think it is better to be in an SBD event that wasn’t your first choice than to miss the opportunity of being a Stone Bridge Driver this year.
It’s all about keeping up.

Casey, I’ve participated in the Knapp Roadster Rally for the past eight iterations but didn’t make the cut this year due to the reduced field (and perhaps my procrastination). I’m on the waiting list and I’m wondering if there’s a chance the field will be expanded by September. Any thoughts on that? Is there any way I can help to lobby for said expansion? I’d hate to miss another year.

Actually that is not true.
The Glenkhana is a driving event although it is a slightly different form of driving. And the Motorcycle Rallye is a driving event as long as you only have 2 wheels, 3 at the most. If you had a classic Mini, you could claim you were only on 3 wheels as long as you kept turning.
I believe there are still a few spots left in the Concours d Elegance, the Glenkhana, the LOONY Lotus Rendezvous, and the Lane’s Yamaha Motorcycle Rallye.

I have had 15 of them and just recently sold my last one. I spent plenty of time on 3 wheels doing what we used to call the dog.
