FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Celebrate the Legacy of America’s Sports Car at Corvette Thunder in the Glen

May 17-18, 2025

Watkins Glen, NY (October 18, 2024) – Corvette owners and fans alike are invited to experience an exciting celebration of one of the world’s most iconic sports cars at Corvette Thunder in the Glen.

Taking place May 17-18, 2025, in Watkins Glen, the birthplace of the Corvette Concept. This thrilling two-day event hosted by Watkins Glen Promotions commemorates the 72nd anniversary of the Corvette and pays tribute to its visionary designer, Harley J. Earl.

The Corvette, designed and engineered by General Motors chief stylist Harley J. Earl, was inspired by Earl’s visit to the 1951 races in Watkins Glen. Two years later, America’s Sports Car made its debut, captivating racing fans and launching a legacy that continues to this day. Corvette Thunder in the Glen honors Earl’s profound influence on automotive history and the car that has become a symbol of American innovation and performance.

Event Details:

Saturday, May 17

The festivities will kick off with a dazzling display of Corvettes at Clute Park from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Corvette owners will line the scenic Clute Park Trailway along the shores of Seneca Lake to showcase their beloved cars, offering attendees the opportunity to admire these automotive works of art. The park will also feature food trucks and vendors for all to enjoy, with more surprises to come.

In the evening, at 5 p.m., Corvette aficionados will gather at the Clute Park Community Center for a special dinner and presentation by renowned Corvette photographer Richard Prince. Prince will provide a fascinating look into the history and enduring legacy of the Corvette, followed by a Q&A session.

Sunday, May 18

Day two will see Watkins Glen’s historic Franklin Street transformed into a stunning display of Corvettes from noon to 3 p.m. Pre-registered owners will line the street, with the show extending south from Fourth Street to the original start/finish line of the legendary Watkins Glen Grand Prix Circuit. At 3 p.m., engines will roar to life as the cars take a paced lap of the Old Course, retracing the route that shaped the early years of American road racing.

The excitement doesn’t stop there. Following the lap of the Old Course, the cars will head to Watkins Glen International for laps around the world-famous track, offering drivers an unforgettable experience at this iconic racing venue.

I am not sure what details you are looking for.

But I can tell you that the Glenora Run is already more than half full. Figure out which SBD event you want to sign up for and get it done soon to avoid the risk of not getting in before it is sold out.

It is just a matter of keeping up with the applicant ahead of you.

Thanks for the reminder Mr. Licker.

I signed up for the Glenora Run today.   I just completed a 600 mile course participating in the American British Reliability Run that was staged in the Pocono Mountains.  It was a fantastic run with an excellent group of people raising money for the Shriner’s Childrens Hospital in Philadelphia.

All the Best
