Brad Sweet announces retirement from full-time racing (Dirt)
Sweet announced at Sunday’s High Limit Racing season-ending banquet that he’s retiring from full-time racing, effective immediately. The 39-year-old left the door open for potential select starts, but won’t compete for a championship in 2026. No replacement
has been named for Kasey Kahne Racing’s (KKR) No. 49.
“I want to say thank you to the fans, they are the heartbeat of this sport,” Sweet said. “Every time I rolled into a track, the fans remind us so much of why we do this. Every night at the end of the night, the kids coming up to you, good bad or different,
it is why we do it.
“My wife, she is my rock. She sees the highs, the lows, the long nights, the heartbreak, the championships and the celebrations. You gave me balance and I couldn’t have accomplished this without you.”
Sweet has been the top star of Sprint Car racing’s current era, unseating Donny Schatz as World of Outlaws Sprint Car champion after a tense, tight battle in 2019 and going on to claim six-straight titles through 2024 - five with the Outlaws and one after he
moved to High Limit. He did it all with KKR, leading the company to the top of the discipline with 14 High Limit wins and 92 Outlaw features, including a 2018 triumph in the Knoxville Nationals,
“Kasey (Kahne) took a chance on a kid that was unproven and the time and I can’t thank him enough for believing in me and being more than a car owner, being a friend,” Sweet said. “He helped me chase our dreams that seemed too big at the time. I will cherish
our accomplishments, our memories and our friendship forever. It has been a good ride.”
The Californian entered the final weekend of the 2025 High Limit season within reach of a seventh title. But after taking a step back in performance, he was unseated by incoming Tony Stewart Racing star Rico Abreu.
Thus ends one of the all-time great runs in Sprint Car history - and with it, Sweet’s full-time career. But the High Limit co-owner promises to stay involved in the racing discipline he loves most.
“Racing has been my whole life. Walking away from full-time driving is not easy, but I know this: I gave it everything I had, every lap, every season, every championship,” Sweet said. “This isn’t goodbye to racing, it is just the end of being behind the wheel
full time. I will still be around supporting this sport that we all love and giving back as much as I can to the next generation.”

Colton Heta to contest F2 in 2026 with Hitech (Formula 2)
Colton Herta’s Formula 2 leap is official.
“I’m incredibly excited to officially be joining F2 for the 2026 Formula 2 season,” Herta said in a team release. “This is an amazing opportunity to develop my skills in European racing and to measure myself against some of the best young drivers in the world.
“Racing on the same weekends as Formula 1 will give me first-hand experience of that environment and help me grow as part of the Cadillac F1 family. I’m very grateful to Cadillac and Hitech for their trust and support and I can’t wait to get started.”
The program will allow Herta to immerse himself in the world of European formula racing and gain experience on the same tracks he hopes to compete on in F1. With Hitech, the 25-year-old is joining a company with winning experience and potential for championship
contention. The company currently sits 12 points behind Invicta in the constructors’ championship battle.
Herta will likely be the oldest driver in the field, but he’ll need to close up an experience gap with the cars and tires than make up the series. The former NTT IndyCar Series competitor is making this leap with hopes of chasing a longtime dream to compete
in F1.
“Colton has already shown exceptional talent and professionalism throughout his career,” TWG Motorsports and Cadillac F1 Team CEO Dan Towriss said. “His move into Formula 2 with Hitech is a natural and important next step in his development towards Formula
1. Competing in F2 will not only strengthen his racecraft in the European environment but also allow for greater integration with our team as he continues to support us with his testing and simulator duties.”

JR Motorsports confirms Caruth, Trackhouse duo for part-time rides (NASCAR Xfinity)
With less than two weeks left in the 2025 NASCAR season, JR Motorsports took a small step toward locking up its 2026 plans.
Caruth has 22 prior starts in what is currently the Xfinity Series, notching his career-best result of 12th twice at Martinsville Speedway. The 23-year-old is currently above the Championship 4 cutline heading into the penultimate Truck Series race after earning
his second-career win at Nashville Superspeedway over the summer.
Four drivers have previously been confirmed for starts with JRM next year. Defending champion Justin Allgaier and Sammy Smith are expected to run full-time, while current playoff contenders Connor Zilisch and Carson Kvapil are each set to run part-time in the
No. 1 Chevrolet.
(Source(s): Nick DeGroot / Motorsport, Logan Kendall / Frontstretch)
Number of the Day: 27
If you ran Sunday’s Cup Series race at Talladega Superspeedway, the statistics say you likely led at least one lap. That’s because 27 different drivers reached the front of the field in the fuel-focused race, two shy of the Cup Series record - which was set
at Talladega during the tandem drafting era.
