Heim wasn’t without fault - he nearly threw the race away after getting loose in front of a chasing Christopher Bell with two laps remaining - but the reigning Craftsman Truck Series champion did enough to hold onto a massive victory.
The day’s other storyline came deep in the field. Todd Gilliland entered Indianapolis as a heavy underdog to claim the In-Season Challenge finale in a matchup with Ryan Blaney. But after Blaney got caught up in a Lap 120 wreck,

Corey Heim didn’t declare for Cup Series points this year, but the owner’s championship standings show how promising his partial season has been - and how underwhelming Connor Zilisch’s debut year has gone.
With just eight starts to his name, Heim has taken advantage of the heavy bonus for wins to secure 228 points. That mark actually puts his No. 67 ahead of Zilisch’s No. 88 in the owner’s standings, with the Trackhouse Racing prospect having earned just 216
points with eight DNFs in 22 starts.
Does this mean Zilisch’s career is dead on arrival? No. And it’s important to note that Heim is four years older with a significant experience advantage after a slower road through NASCAR’s lower levels. But the gap speaks to the difference in each driver’s
Cup performances this year.
