IndyCar unveiled the new Dallara IR-28 Tuesday. This will be the new car for the NTT IndyCar Series starting in 2028, replacing the IR-18, which has roots in the DW12 that debuted in 2012.

 Is NASCAR Not Coming Back to Chicago After All? (NASCAR Cup)
NASCAR’s plan to return the Chicago Street Race to its 2027 calendar next spring appears to have hit an impasse.
Crain’s Chicago Business journalist Greg Hinz reported the news Wednesday, saying the series has hit “a stumbling block over the size of a state subsidy it’s seeking to defray some of its costs.”
After taking a year off in 2026, NASCAR has been keen for a Chicago return given the success and spectacle of the street race’s first three years. It was the Cup Series’ first true street race, bringing the tour to a key market and giving it a splashy summer event to place in the stretch run of the regular season. The first edition was impacted by heavy rains, but the NASCAR was ultimately able to get both races in and hold two years of the race without such a major setback.
NASCAR still hopes to make a deal. Race president Julie Giese confirmed as much when it left in 2025, saying the goal was “for the Chicago Street Race to return in 2027 with an event that further enhances the experience for residents and visitors alike, as we work together towards a new potential date, shorter build schedule, and additional tourism draws.”
But if this race doesn’t return, don’t be surprised to see NASCAR continue on with its recent return to the nearby Chicagoland Speedway. While less exciting from a marketing standpoint, the Joliet, Ill. oval keeps racing in the greater Chicago region.
