 New Nurburgring series targeting 24H teams launching in 2027 (Sports Cars)
Here we go again.
For the second time in recent years, the iconic Nürburgring Nordschleife is set to have two different racing series in 2027. ADAC Nordrhein announced Monday plans for a new ADAC 24H Nürburgring Series to launch in 2027.
The tour’s inaugural season is set to consist of six races across five weekends, each ran to the Nürburgring 24’s regulations and on the Nordschleife circuit layout.
Festivities will kick off with a new 24H Nürburgring Prologue (April 2-3), followed by the traditional Nürburgring 24 Qualifiers (April 30-May 2) and the iconic race itself (May 27-30). The ADAC Eifelrennen (July 30-Aug.1) and ADAC 1000km (Sept. 10-12) will conclude the series.
These moves come at a time of increased interest in the Nürburgring 24, aided by the arrival of Max Verstappen for the race’s 2026 edition. ADAC plans to offer a reduced entry fee and guaranteed starting space in the 24-hour race for teams registered for the series.
“We are thereby responding to the wishes of many teams who wanted compact and targeted preparation for the ‘race of the year’ on the Nürburgring Nordschleife,” ADAC Nordrhein Sporting Director Walter Hornung said in a release. “At the same time, this allows us to extend the extremely positive development of the 24h Nürburgring over the past few years to other events, which will be organized entirely along the lines of the 24h.”
These events will come in direct competition with the preexisting Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie, or NLS, the track’s traditional series and a recent host of the ADAC 24H Qualifiers.
It’s not the first time the tour’s essential monopoly was called into question. Just two years ago, a rival Nürburgring Endurance Series was launched with ambitions of challenging the status quo. But the tour was short-lived and cancelled early in the 2024 season after suffering from low car counts and general disinterest.
“We have taken note of ADAC Nordrhein’s plans. We cannot welcome this move, as we view motorsport on the Nordschleife as a shared endeavour that requires solidarity. Regardless of this, we remain firmly focused on our goal: to provide endurance racing on the Nordschleife with an affordable and attractive platform for participants, teams and fans.”

Tommy Baldwin Jr. leaves Rick Ware Racing (NASCAR Cup)
Baldwin confirmed his exit from the Cup Series regulars during Monday’s edition of the “Door Bumper Clear” podcast, ending a tenure that began in April 2023.
“We decided - Rick and I - that our expectations were not aligned anymore,” Baldwin said of the decision. “So we decided, without ruining our friendship … to go different ways.”
Moving forward, Baldwin plans to work with his sons, Jack and Luke, who continue to chase their racing dreams, while attempting to work out his next steps in the NASCAR industry. Luke has 10 Craftsman Truck Series starts to his name and made his O’Reilly Auto Parts Series debut earlier this year at Martinsville Speedway.
The New York native has been a stalwart of the sport, whether serving as crew chief for drivers including Ward Burton and Kasey Kahne or running his own team from 2009 through 2020. He joined “Door Bumper Clear” as a regular co-host in 2025.

That’s the number Denny Hamlin confirmed that Corey Heim will run next year in his “Actions Detrimental” podcast. It’s a number that’s yet to score a win in 378 starts across nearly eight decades in the Cup Series.
Perhaps Heim Time will be the right time for one of NASCAR’s least successful numbers.
