Race Recaps
NASCAR
Cup Series: It truly looked like Denny Hamlin’s year. After winning his way into the Championship 4 in Las Vegas, the veteran earned the pole and led the majority of the laps in Sunday’s season finale, overcoming mid-race tire trouble to rise into the lead in the closing laps.
Then, suddenly, a flat tire from the pursuing William Byron in second blew the race wide open with just three to go.
That was just the opportunity Kyle Larson, crew chief Cliff Daniels and Hendrick Motorsports needed. Larson took two tires while Hamlin and Chase Briscoe took four, survived a two-lap overtime and crossed the line third to claim his second Cup title despite going winless since May and failing to lead a single lap on the day. Despite lacking the speed, the No. 5 team found a way. (NASCAR.com)
Hamlin was bogged down on the bottom and ultimately ended up sixth, with Briscoe 18th after multiple tire issues and Byron relegated to 33rd. Ryan Blaney snuck past Brad Keselowski after he overshot the final corner on old tires to take the win.

Xfinity Series: Connor Zilisch was the star of the 2025 Xfinity Series season. But when it counted most, his best fried Jesse Love seized the moment.
Emotions were high for both drivers, with Love elated at the major win while Zilisch was heartbroken after failing to put the finishing touches on a historic campaign.
Aric Almirole passed Zilisch for second in the closing laps to bring Joe Gibbs Racing’s No. 19 team the owner’s championship. Justin Allgaier finished fifth, with Carson Kvapil struggling en route to a 13th-place finish.

Craftsman Truck Series: The best championship campaign in Truck Series history was wrapped up with another victory on Friday night, but the road there was anything from smooth. (Reid Spencer / NASCAR.com)
In a moment that foreshadowed the heartbreak to come for another No. 11 team in the Cup Series, Corey Heim saw his historic season threatened by a late caution. He came to pit road, took four tires and came out in 10th place ahead of an overtime restart.
Heim dove to the very bottom of the unique Phoenix oval to make the most of a seven-wide battle for the lead then snuck past Ty Majeski in a second overtime to secure a record-extending 12th win of 2025 and secure his title. Majeski came home second, with Kaden Honeycutt third. Tyler Ankrum struggled and ultimately ended up 14th after getting caught in an overtime crash.

ARCA Menards Series West: In the least dramatic race of the Phoenix weekend, Brent Crews dominated the ARCA West finale while Trevor Huddleston claimed the series championship in 10th. (Brandon White / ARCARacing.com)

Drag Racing
NHRA: With the pressure on, Brittany Force and Matt Hagen rose to the occasion to win their respective finals in the Dodge NHRA Nevada Nationals. Force became the winningest female in NHRA history. (NHRA.com)

Number of the Day: 0
On an afternoon where his No. 5 team was consistently rallying from behind, eventual champ Kyle Larson didn’t lead a single lap in Sunday’s Cup Series Championship race. He’s the first Cup title winner to not see the front of the field in the final race during NASCAR’s elimination playoff era. Of the other 11 championship drives, 10 ended in victories and the lone outlier - Ryan Blaney’s runner-up run in 2023 - saw him lead two laps before following Ross Chastain to the checkered flag.
