All 2026 Clash Activity Moved to Sunday
Due to a forecast of snow for Saturday, NASCAR announced Thursday that the entire schedule for the Cook Out Clash at Bowman Gray will be run on Sunday, weather and road conditions permitting.

Saturday’s events have been postponed due to the weather forecast. The Clash is still scheduled for Sunday. Practice and qualifying is scheduled from 2:00-4:00pm/et and will be broadcast live on FS2. The Last Chance Qualifier is scheduled for 6:00pm/et live on FOX. NASCAR Race Day on FOX will begin at 7:30pm/et on FOX, followed by the Cook Out Clash at 8:00pm/et on FOX.  NASCAR is working closely with the City of Winston-Salem to monitor expected winter weather

NASCAR alters Clash schedule, race’s timeline remains uncertain (NASCAR Cup)
NASCAR enjoyed an atypically fortuitous run of weather luck during the 2025 Cup Series season. But Mother Nature’s already given the sanctioning body a hurdle to clear in its first race weekend of 2026.
Citing an abundance of caution given what could be a cold, snowy weekend in the Carolinas, NASCAR has postponed Saturday’s planned on-track activity for the Cook Out Clash at Bowman Gray Stadium.
The planned preview at the Winstom-Salem Fairgrounds Event Center is still poised to go ahead on Friday. but the Clash itself is now scheduled to be a one-day show on Sunday.
Practice and qualifying with heat races are scheduled to take place from 2 to 4 p.m. ET, with the Last Chance Qualifier following at 6 p.m. ET and the Clash itself wrapping things up at 8 p.m. ET. The planned Cook Out Madhouse Classic, an undercard race featuring NASCAR Weekly Series Modified and Sportsman divisions, has been postponed outright, with a future date to be announced.
NASCAR shifted its annual season-opening exhibition from the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum to the iconic North Carolina oval in 2025. The early race date always meant there’d be a weather risk, but the first edition of the race was met with a friendly forecast.
This year, the Carolinas are less fortunate. One week removed from a dangerous, icy storm that hit the majority of the central and eastern United States, an incoming band of weather is threatening to drop multiple inches of snow and bring harshly cold wind chills to North Carolina this weekend, though there is potential for pockets of dry air to minimize the impact. Gov. Josh Stein declared a state of emergency early in the week, urging North Carolinians to prepare for snow, bitter cold and potential power outages.
That’s going to put NASCAR in a difficult situation, with no certainty of a definitive window to race and risk of dangerous temperatures for attending fans.
Of course, adapting the Clash to poor weather is nothing new for the sanctioning body. The final edition of the race in Los Angeles in 2023 was moved up a full day due to threats of significant rain and flooding in the typically-dry Southern California venue. We’ll see how things shake out this time.
