If you use STEPBible on a phone, please try https://beta.stepbible.org and let me know your thoughts.

The browser navigation bar which shows the URL will be hidden when you scroll up.  In addition, the longer lexicon in the sidebar is now shown as a modal (popup).  On a Bible tagged with Strong numbers, touch a word twice to see the modal.

This change will only show on touch screen devices with less than 600 pixels in height and width.  The user interface on browsers from Windows, Mac and most tablets are the same as before.

Blessings,
Patrick Tang

Thanks for making this site accessible. I note a repetition here (enter Hebreew text for Psalm 23) that may have to be altered. Regards, Dieter Schneider

The repetition in italics is a way to line up text that in one version occupies one verse, and in another version is split into two verses.

No need to respond, but thanks for getting back to me. I am stil learning to use the site and note that the first line is not always repeated, e.g. image.png

Hello

Allow me to ask one question a bit out of topic in this STEP Bible Forum.

In thinking of creating a specific bible software like Accordance or Logos for our own language( I know it is too narrow),

where can I find and look for Christian Software Developer to compensate them and get it done?

Thanks in advance.

Peter

Hi Peter,

I’m not answering your specific question but depending on “your language” have you thought of reaching out to the people at https://wycliffe.org.uk? They are Bible translators and may have done it already.

Thanks,
Tom

Hi Peter,

May I ask what the scope of this software is? You compare Logos and Accordance which are huge projects, but is it actually just a simple reader for a single translation you want. In addition to Tom's reply about Wycliffe, have you considered contributing a translation (GUI and Bible) to existing software like STEP Bible, E-Sword (https://e-sword.net)?

Just out of curiosity, what is your language?

Regards,
Daniel

Correction: I mistaked E-Sword for the Sword Project (https://crosswire.org/sword/index.jsp). E-Sword is not open source.

New Zealand.

Hi Peter,

A bit out of topic, but yes, there's probably lots of people waiting for a project like that, and I've been dreaming about it for years (See Biblelastic at https://GitHub.com/Freely-Given-org#forthcoming-projects which isn't really even started beyond choosing a name.)

Of course, there's three major needs, and you only mention one: 3/ developing the software.

Before that, you need 1/ collecting Bible materials that can be used (open-licenced) in your language, and 2/ inventing a clever expandable, efficient, indexing scheme for Bible verses, people, places and maps, events and timelines, etc., etc.

I'm still working on #1 above. Maybe someone else has gotten as far as #2 or #3? Or do you have different ideas?

Blessings,
Robert Hunt.

A new Bible "ESV_morph" is available on www.stepbible.org.  This is an ESV Bible with grammar information in both OT and NT.  You can see the grammar information in the quick lexicon and sidebar lexicon.  It also works with color code grammar.

If there are no issues, the ESV_morph will become the regular ESV Bible on STEPBible.  Please try it and let me know of any issues or suggestions.
