Download Regions (?)

A quick question to which I could not find an answer elsewhere: what is the significance of the Download Region when we download STEPBIble to our computer? Is it only for tracking usage, or does it make a difference to the actual download itself?

It is for download speed. Especially for people with slow Internet connections.  The Asia Pacific download site is in Singapore.  EU in Europe.  USA in Virginia.
