In late 2005, members of our community joined
together in an effort to ask the SCASD school board to "Stop and Re-Evaluate"
their decision to renovate the SCAHS. From that effort, State High Vision
was formed. One of the first tasks that we completed was to define our
mission. That mission statement (see www.statehighvision.org) has and
will continue to define our activities.
A large part of our success can be attributed to
our many viewpoints and perspectives as well as our non-partisan
collaboration. Despite our differences, we were focused on a common
mission; to ask the SCASD board to re-evaluate their plan, let the community
back into the discussion and to complete a comprehensive district wide
facilities plan.
In response to concerns raised
about the "SHV position" on other local issues as well as the distribution
of emails offering viewpoints on issues not related to the future plans for
facilities in the school district, we would like to clarify our position.
State High Vision has not and will not step forward to offer a position
statement on any other issue. Additionally, State High Vision cannot and
will not intervene or endorse candidates. Individual community
members who supported or participated in the efforts of SHV obviously may
choose to be involved in other issues but they cannot and do not speak for
SHV.
We also request that individuals not
use SHV email lists for either political or commercial/business
purposes.
State High Vision will continue as a community
group until such time that a facilities plan for the future of our school
district has been completed and the community has had an opportunity to
participate in that process - a process in which we will be open and
inclusive of many perspectives. We will continue to update you on concerns
related to spending, decisions, etc. made by the SCASD board in relation to
their lack of a district wide facilities plan.
