Kurtis,

I love the StartAid extension, but a couple of days ago, I developed
the same problem as others are having with the sidebar not loading
(http://groups.google.com/group/StartAid/browse_thread/thread/
c6cab69d2d908cb6, http://groups.google.com/group/StartAid/browse_thread/thread/0850ad328ab7602b).
I have cleared the browser cookies and have even tried uninstalling /
reinstalling the extension, but still get just log in button on the
sidebar. I log in, enter the password (its not remembering the
password either) and then go back to the log in button. I'm using
firefox3 and StartAid 1.4, and the startaid website works fine. I am
*assuming* there may be an invalid character in the XML feed. My user
name is techdoodle. Can you fix this or post instructions on how to
fix this since it seams to be a recurring issue?

Thanks
Techdoodle

Hi Techdoodle,

There have been 2 different issues one where invalid characters
corrupt the XML feed, but the latest problem with cookies not saving
is due to newer versions of Firefox disabling browser 'cookies'.

If your browser has cookies disabled then the system will not remember
you and not know what bookmarks are yours.

Please check Tools>Options>Privacy and insure you have cookies enabled
and that they are not blocked for startaid.com.

If your cookies are working you should be able to go to the main
website (after reloading your browser) and still be logged in.

Please check your cookies and let me know if they are enabled.

Thanks, Kurtis!

You were correct. I had cookies enabled but had recently disabled
"third party cookies". Re-enabling third party cookies solved the
problem.

Thanks again,

Hi Kurtis,

You were correct. Cookies were enabled, but I had recently disabled
third party cookies. Once I re-enabled third party cookies the side
bar works just fine.

Thanks.

Glad to hear it worked for you... glad to have you back :)

I expect there was a change to the default Firefox settings, so there
may be a lot more cases of this in the future :)
