It is with great sorrow that we write to inform you of the falling asleep of Maria Chiadis.
Services:
Viewings: Sunday March 1st, from 3-5pm and Monday March 2nd from 10-11am at St Nicholas Cathedral.
Funeral: Monday March 2nd, 11am at St. Nicholas Cathedral, 1607 W. Union Blvd, Bethlehem, PA.
Entombment will be in the Mausoleum at Bethlehem Memorial Park Cemetery.
May her memory be eternal.
Obituary:
Maria Chiadis, 84 of Bethlehem died on February 26, 2015 at home surrounded by her family. Wife of the late Michael J. Chiadis, who died on May 6, 2007. Maria was born in Nea Kios, Greece on August 13, 1930, daughter of the late Nicholas and Eleni (Hatzidakis) Tsakiris. She began her working career as an accomplished seamstress in both New York and Bethlehem. She also worked at Mike's Restaurant, Durkee's, and at her husband's store, the Boulevard Food Market in Bethlehem for over 30 years. Maria was a devoted member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Bethlehem and she enjoyed serving in her church community. She was a member of the Choir, Senior Citizens and the Ladies Philoptochos of the Cathedral. Maria was beloved by her family and friends for her caring, giving spirit and servant heart. She generously shared her time and talents whenever a need arose. Her Sunday dinners were legendary and her original recipes will be cherished. Survivors: Daughter Athene Blow, wife of Paul of Coopersburg; son Dr. James M. Chiadis, wife of Anne and their son Michael J. Chiadis all of Bethlehem; sister Eleftheria Raptis of Athens, Greece; sister in laws Elisavet Tsakiris of Nea Kios, Greece and Virginia Compos of Bethlehem, and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her brother Demetri Tsakiris. Service: Funeral Service on Monday March 2, 2015 at 11 AM in St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral 1607 W. Union Blvd. Bethlehem. There will be a viewing on Sunday from 3PM to 5PM and on Monday from 10AM to 11 AM in the Cathedral. Entombment will be in the Mausoleum at Bethlehem Memorial Park Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are by the John F. Herron Funeral Home in Bethlehem. Contributions: in Maria's memory to the Cathedral or a charity of your choice.
