Thanks to all who shared their song with us this past Sunday. It really demonstrated how far our reading and sound has come since we started a short month ago ... never mind pulling off the Mass of Creation without a hitch for the last three weeks!
But, my thoughts today are about our future..
I am hoping to collaborate with you all regarding our repertoire for December and the new year. Simply put - what would you like to sing? I believe in the strength of our collaborative minds, rather than mine alone choosing repertoire. We can sing anything so let your mind run wild! (In fact, I look forward to arranging some of your choices myself in the coming weeks). We can't sing everything right way, but I look forward to maintaining a lonnnnng list of singer-generated suggestions.
I hope that you've been enjoying rehearsals (if not, let me know!). The progress we have made in this short time (only three hours of rehearsal total) is phenomenal.. Who's up for two hours (7 - 9 pm) in December? It will accelerate our progress exponentially and will always include a 7th inning stretch break.
This week we're not having rehearsal (hold back your tears!). I have pasted our "setlist" below with links and posted new files on our google groups page. Val (voice) and Scott (violin), our Harrison Hill Teaching Artists-in-Residence, will join us on Sunday for a big musical bash! Also, an Oregonian reporter will be there to write a story on the St. David's "renaissance" so I hope that we can have a nice full choir!
Now, the simple homework. Answer the following questions to the best of your ability. No time limit. Full sentences not necessary. Cheating is permissible.
1. What would you like to sing in December and 2010?
2. Can you rehearse on Thursdays from 7 - 9 pm?
*Also mention any ride issues so I can arrange a carpool
Happy Thanksgiving,
Dan
