YOUNG ADULTS HOSTED STATIONS OF THE CROSS SERVICE

Please join St. Charles Young Adults in Stations of the Cross on Friday. The stations service will last until approximately 8:15 PM.

ST. AGNES 5K & 10K RUNS

Saturday, April 16 – 7:30 AM

PRICES: 10K - $22.50, 5K - $20 (Ignore the amount on the form. Because we have such a large group we were able to get a significant discount).

PAYMENT INSTRUCTIONS: Please fill out the attached PDF and deliver, along with payment (Checks Made Payable to St. Agnes PTO).

REGISTRATION: To Drop Off on Friday: Deliver to St. Agnes Catholic Church's Parish Center in the evening 6-8pm). To Drop Off at the Race on Saturday: Please do so no later than 7:30am in person at the event.

DAY OF LOGISTICS: Race Location: St. Agnes School - 2024 N. Randolph Street - Arlington, VA – 22207. Both races begin at 8 AM in the Stafford Street Parking Lot. St. Charles participants will meet at 7:40am near the registration table. There is a small parking lot where race participants gather. After both the races are complete, meet near the refreshments before heading to brunch.

NOTE: The Arlington County Police Department will be shutting down the streets @ 7:30, please plan accordingly.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR BINGO AT SUNRISE RETIREMENT HOME

Sundays, Once Per Month

The Arlington Church of the Brethren is seeking another church to commit to a wonderful little program of outreach right in the neighborhood of the Bluemont Park at the Sunrise Retirement Home. The Sunrise elderly are passionate and thoroughly enjoy playing Bingo with ea. other. This, at first, doesn't sound too important. But when you go and "call" the game for them, you realize how much they look forward to the games. It keeps them sharp, they see each other for a little while after hours, and I have personally grown very fond of them. Please see below to discuss the possibility becoming involved. World Youth Day Pilgrimage

Ever wonder what it would be like to participate in exercises for your spiritual life? St. Charles has space available on a pilgrimage to World Youth Day (WYD) in Madrid. The 15-day trip begins Aug. 7, 2011 and includes stops in Barcelona, Lourdes, Pamplona, and Madrid. WYD gatherings have made it possible for young people ages 16 – 35 from different lands and cultures to pray and grow in the Catholic faith together. Interested? PARKING FOR WEEKEND MASS AT ST. CHARLES

--GMU has graciously allowed us to use their parking at their building at Kirkwood & Wash. Blvd. for our weekend Masses (only). Enter the surface lot from Kirkwood or enter garage from Wash. Blvd.

--If you park in the Parish lot, you can ignore the “reserved” signs on the weekends.

--Please do not park in fire lanes or block the priest carport

REQUESTS FOR MONEY

St. Charles is a very generous community and because of our location in Arlington we often have individuals come to the Church requesting money for various reasons. If someone approaches you and asks for money while you are here for Mass or other events, please do not hesitate to refer them to our Social Services Coordinator, Jo-Ann Duggan. Her hours at the office are Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays & Fridays from 11:00 until 6:30 p.m. Thank you.

CATHOLIC SPORTS CLUB

Join area young adults for a season of pickup basketball on Saturday nights from 5:50 PM - 7:55 PM at St. Joseph Hall - Queen of Apostles (4329 Sano Street) in Alexandria. Join Fr. Vander Woude and area young adults for a great evening of athletics. We will divide according to level of skill & experience, so feel free to come whether you played in college or are just beginning. We would love to see you there! (A 5:00 PM Mass will be available in the church.)

Are you experiencing feelings of shame, guilt, regret and sadness? Have you lost a child to abortion? VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Volunteers are needed to work at Christ House as receptionists for the Emergency Assistance Hotline. Come and volunteer one 4 hour shift mornings or afternoon to help answer calls for assistance. Training provided. A desire to serve those in need required! Volunteers are also needed to help with running and organizing the evening meal at Christ House. Greet diners, help with set-up, clean-up and make sure ministry runs smoothly. Sign up to work one 4-7 p.m. shift a week. Catholic Charities is also looking for volunteers experienced in bankruptcy law to work with clients facing financial crises. Whether you have a few hours a week, a month, or even on an occasional basis, your time and talents are always welcome and appreciated at Dominican Retreat. We have an ongoing need for volunteers in the following areas:· Dining Room/Kitchen- setting tables, serving, running dishwasher

· Housekeeping in the dormitory

· Mailings

· Front Office – filing and other clerical projects

· Computer- proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, and /or Power Point

· Outdoors – raking leaves, weeding, gardening and other related projects
